Lauren Benner, Administrator and 2015 Crimson Head Coach

Lauren grew up in Annapolis, MD where she started playing lacrosse in the second grade. She attended the Severn School grades 9-12 where she was a four-year varsity letter winner. She also swam and played soccer at Severn. Lauren played for the CCLax club program and went on to play collegiately at the University of Virginia. At UVA she helped the Cavaliers to two ACC championships, 4 NCAA appearances and 1 NCCA Championship appearance where UVA fell to Northwestern 15-13. Lauren was a three-year member of the UVA Student-Athlete Honor Roll, named UVA Student-Athlete of the Month for February 2009, Womenslacrosse.com defensive player of the week March 4, 2009 and named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll her second and third years. She was also named to the IWLCA All-South Regional team and the VaSID All-State team her fourth year. Lauren graduated from the University May of 2010 with her Bachelor of Arts.

Having redshirted her second year at UVA, Lauren chose to take her fifth year of lacrosse eligibility at the University of Denver while pursuing her master’s degree in Strategic Communications. She was named to the IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Roll that year. Lauren is currently in her second year of this academic program while serving as DU’s Women’s Lacrosse Volunteer Assistant Coach and will graduate this spring with a Master of Science. She resides in the Wash Park area of Denver and loves to enjoy the outdoors of Colorado with friends, especially skiing.
